Bolt Action Messerschmitt Me 262 Bolt Action and Operation Armoured Fist 2016

My gaming club and possibly the best gaming club in Sydney, Company of Dice hosted Operation Armoured Fist which was run by our good friend Rob.

This article will discuss my decision to run a War Plane, it's construction and how it performed on the day.

Concept

Armoured fist allows you to run Armoured Platoons and War Planes with 1500 points to play with.  As I have never run a War Plane in Bolt Action before and the rules are being phased out for Second Edition (so I have been told), I just happened to have an un-built Me 262 laying around that was not intended to be used for war gaming.

Game 3 vs Zane - Me 262 Flying over the Battle Field

How did the 262 go?

For 253 Points it is Regular has 4 x Heavy Auto Cannons and a bomb.  To say it was overpowered was an understatement!

Game 1 vs Soviets - Victory.  Tabled the enemy turn 5. 262 knocked out a T34 and strafed two infantry units. 1497 points collectively damage done.

Game 2 vs Hungarians - Loss.  Hard fought tank battle!  262 wrecked two Hetzers and strafed a Zyrinii II.  1000 points collectively damage done.

Game 3 vs Germans - Victory. Awesome grudge match in demolition.  262 knocked out an Armoured Car and a Panzer 3.  Did a strafing run on a Panzer 4. 893 points collectively damage done.

Overall I came 4th and got the honorary Terminator Award (unofficially) from the organiser Rob.  I clocked up 3390 points of damage over 3 games! No one came close to that!

Bryan took out the day with First Place and Best Painted (Hungarians) and in my opinion well deserved!

Project Lehr - 28mm 1/56 Panzer Lehr Armoured Platoon

I decided to theme on of my German Army as the Panzer Lehr Division.  I went with the 901st Panzer Lehr Regiment.

A couple of books for research.

28mm Panzer Lehr Squad

This is my first squad.  They are Artizan Miniatures 28mm Panzer Lehr Troops.  I painted rank insignia and small details such as Iron Cross Ribbons on their uniforms.  The tank kill badges are decals from Warlord Games.

The Panzer Lehr were some of the first to receive King Tiger Tanks, also known as the Tiger 2.  They had 5 in the Normandy Campaign.  I decided to model hull 11 that was abandoned by its crew after breaking down in August 1944.

JTFM Tiger 2 Zimmermit Green Stuff

I acquired a JTFM Die Waffenkammer 1/56 King Tiger.  It didn't come with Zimmermit so I had to make my own.  I am pretty inexperienced with green stuff but I had a crack and used a small flat head screw driver to do the detail.

Bolt Action Tank War - Armoured Platoon Battle - Company of Dice Sydney

Recently my good friend Joe and I had a Bolt Action Tank War Battle at Joe's club, company of dice.

I thought we were playing 1250 points each and turned up with a Panzer Lehr platoon backed up with some German Fallshirmjager troops. Joe fielded a 1500 point US Armoured (Armored for the Americans!) platoon.  I was wondering why Joe had so many tanks!  I didn't realise he had a 1500 point list until the following day!  We went for a semi historical show down between the US 101st Airborne and the German Fallshirmjager at the Battle of Bloody Gulch, Normandy, 13 June 1944. We played the tank war scenario that comes in the Tank War supplement. It was a great game with victory going to the Germans.

The Americans Roll in!

Joe's platoon looks awesome on the table

Here comes the Germans!

Joe rolled onto the objective in the last turn but the Stug had something to say about that! The Puma followed in behind just in case!
In the end it was a great battle with some epic moments.  By far my MVP was my STUG and this video pretty much sums it up!
