Foundry Downed German Aircrew

I return to one of my favourite subjects, WW2 and 28mm.  Something I haven't painted in a long time!

Its good to knock over some more figures.  This pack is by Foundry Miniatures and is sculpted by the most talented Perry Twins.  They were entered in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge "Fellowship" bonus round.

I am pretty happy with how they turned out.  These can be used for a variety of scenarios in a number of rulesets.

A copy and paste as why I see them as a fellowship...

The miniatures depicted here tell the story of our fellowship's most desperate hour.  They are shotdown, they survived and now they are behind enemy lines.  Are they in a lush field in England? Rural France? or is our fellowship desperately avoiding capture from the Soviets somewhere on the Eastern Front?

Foundry Miniatures Blitzkrieg German Infantry

As part of my clear the bench challenge, I had to paint up 8 Foundry German Infantry (WW2027) as they were left incomplete from my 100 Days of Hobby Challenge.  These will be used for my Blitzkrieg Germans.  They are great sculpts and extremely easy to paint. They are older figures and are sculpted by the infamous Alan and Michael Perry. I decided to try "speed painting" these guys and are not my best result but I am pretty satisfied with how they came out and will look good on the table.  I think they took about 5 hours to do (maybe).  Not really speed painting I guess!

Something of note.  The NCO's are not carrying the MP38 or MP40.  This was quite common during the invasion of Poland and subsequent early campaigns.

They are slightly smaller than the BTD sculpts however mix well.  They are nearly on par with Warlord Plastics.  I will do a comparison in the future so stay tuned.

Of interesting note, my Blitzkrieg Germans are now my largest Army and I have only painted them this year! This is of course including their huge armoured support that they have. Without their armoured support they still come in at 34 painted infantry alone. My 1939 Poles are still the largest figure intensive Army, followed by my Fallshirmjager. This certainly wasn't intentional but there is something so cool and unique about a Blitzkrieg force, not to mention they are almost always overshadowed by the ever so popular late war German forces ( I am my own best critic here! )

Foundry Miniatures Kradshutzen

I recently picked up the Foundry Miniatures German Motorcycle troops, AKA Kradshutzen from Foundry Miniatures.  You can find their range of excellent 28mm Miniatures here.

These miniatures are sculpted by Alan and Michael Perry and put simply are brilliant.  They scale very well with Warlord's range and you can find a comparison on Silver Whistle's blog here.

I picked up the majority of their Blitzkrieg era Germans and... well... I want more they are that good!

The motorcycle troops are extremely easy to put together.  The motorcycle itself comes in 3 parts.  A small base, the bike and handle bars with hands sculpted onto it.  They are easy to assemble and much easier than Artizan Miniatures Fallshirmjager Motorcycle with sidecar.  The Foundry sidecar was very easy to assemble.  The Foundry Sidecar does not come with a MG34 however it would be easy to add one on with some plastics etc.

On the table these will complement any Blitzkrieg German Army well.  Its a shame that we will not see them as much in Bolt Action Version 2 however Historical Accuracy or theme should always be chosen over gaminess.  These will also be used for Battlegroup Blitzkrieg.

Painted up they simply look great.  I will definitely have to get more of these guys.
