BTD Miniatures MG34 on the Move and Some NCOs

I needed a break from painting some DAK so I decided to paint some of the awesome BTD (Black Tree Designs). Miniatures Blitzkrieg Germans.  I needed a couple more MG34s to invade Poland and these were perfect for the job.  I also needed a few more NCOs to lead my squads into the Polish Corridor.

I am really impressed with BTD Miniatures, they are full of detail and some great poses are in there.Sometimes the proportions are a little off.  I am particularly fond of the good chap carrying an MG34 over his shoulder with some ammunition.

Interestingly enough I think these miniatures were originally Harlequin Miniatures until BTD inherited them.

My latest offerings are a Warlord Games Panzer 2, a Warlord Games SDKFZ 222 and a Minairons Henschel Type 33 Truck all in 1/56.

The Henschel Type 33 is a big truck and scales well.  The kit is a lovely resin kit and goes together well with minimal cleanup.

The SdKFZ 222 and the Panzer 2 are based on the German early war camouflage scheme.  They are both Warlord Resins.  They will do well as they storm across Europe.

The invasion of Poland Begins

To invade Poland, one must have Panzers... I chose Panzer 1s!  Already considered outdated for the invasion, they were used and in large numbers.  Usually I would go for no more than 3 of a kind for some tanks but the thought of 5 Panzer 1s and a Panzer 1 Befehlswagen was too much of an opportunity to pass.  Being a bit silly I decided to paint them all at once in addition to a Panzer 35T and a Krupp Ammunition car.  The Panzer 1 horde is primarily for a scenario in Battlegroup Blitzkrieg however they should also make their way into a Bolt Action Armoured Platoon some day.

I have also been working on a table.  I will post my terrain separately but here is a nice sneak peek.

I have pressed on with my Blitzkrieg Germans Project.  I painted up some BTD miniatures and am super impressed with the quality of their figures.  Even some of the sculpts that looks a tad awkward on the website or prior to painting come up very nicely and I am very impressed with BTD.

I have also included a Panzer 1.  I will be painting up 4 more of these plus a Panzer 1 Command Vehicle.  There is a Warlord Games Light Mortar Team and a Crusader Miniatures SS Schutzen which I will be using for 1940s campaigns.

Blitzkrieg Germans

In order to recreate the battles of September 1939 I needed some (slight under-exaggeration)  Blitzkrieg Germans.  With the Black Tree Designs (BTD) 50% sales I could not resist their miniatures.  Love them or hate them I think they are pretty decent and paint up nicely.  I have a huge range of Blitzkrieg Germans to paint up from a variety of manufacturers.

I decided I needed to do two test figures.  One is a BTD Rifleman and the other is a Warlord Games German Pioneer.  I also needed a test vehicle for Panzer Grey so I assembled and painted up my Phanomen Granit H25 truck.

I plan on using these guys for more than just Poland.  They will be used for campaigns from 1939-1942.

With no pressure on me to paint an Army for an upcoming event, these will be part of many projects I have planned!

The BTD German tunic is painted with Vallejo 920 German Uniform and the Warlord tunic is painted with Vallejo 895 Gunship Green.
